Neuropsychiatry

Neuropsychiatry, also called behavioral neurology, is a discipline that identifies the relationship between neurologic and psychiatric conditions and deals with the assessment and management of psychiatric disorders with a neurological basis. Neurological conditions such as epilepsy, dementia, attention deficit disorder and head injuries may have associated psychiatric or behavioral manifestations such as addictions, eating disorders, mood disorders and psychosis, which are identified by a neuropsychiatrist. This field of medicine generally deals with disorders of higher brain functions such as thinking, memory and emotions.
