Psychiatry

Psychiatry is a branch of medicine that deals with the assessment, management and prevention of mental illnesses. Psychiatrists treat mental conditions such as depression, personality disorders and anxiety, and study the physical effects mental disorders have on the body, including changes in blood pressure and heart function. Psychiatrists treat mental illness primarily with medications, but may also recommend psychotherapy or a combination of the two.
