Life Expectancy

Life expectancy refers to the number of years a person is expected to live base on statistical averages. The life expectancy for a person depends on several variables such as age, gender and race. To calculate life expectancy, a baseline is created in relation to the general population of the same sex, age and race. Personal attributes and history that could act as risk factors to life expectancy are established. From these risk factors, those that are most likely to affect life expectancy are determined. The rate of mortality from these risk factors are ascertained and compared with the baseline to calculate the adjusted life expectancy of an individual.
